How Does UniFi Internet Work?

Basics of Unifi

The UniFi equipment uses Power Over Ethernet (POE) to avoid the need for an electrical cord between the wall outlet and the device on the wall. Each one comes with an adapter that takes the power from the wall outlet and sends it through a single Ethernet cable which is the only wire connected to the access point. Subscribe and get a unifi internet for your home or office.

Do You Need a Router?

Since UniFi networks are modular, you are able to add and remove any parts as needed. You don’t need a UniFi router to run a UniFi network. Going with a full UniFi stack has some benefits, but there are also some features that are not supported. The right solution depends on what kind of network you are trying to build, and what features are required for you to accomplish that.

How to Set Up a TP-Link Unifi Router

Firstly, turn on the new router. Power on the TP-Link router and connect it to your computer. You can either use an Ethernet cable to any of the LAN ports or use the WiFi connection. The default WiFi name and password are printed on the wireless router. Next, once you are connected to your new TP-Link router, navigate to 192.168.0.1 or tplinkwifi.net. Then, create a new admin password. Once logged in, the router will advise creating a new password. Make sure to write down or type and save the new password created as you will need it in the future. Step four is to select the timezone. Select the right time zone which is GMT +8 for Malaysia. This is crucial for the router to determine the time correctly. Step five is to select the internet connection type. This fifth step requires you to select the ISP correctly in order for the Internet connection to work properly. For this step, select PPPOE as the internet connection type, then expand the additional ISP settings, and select Malaysia-Unifi profile.

Step six is to insert the PPPOE username and password you obtained from TM on this screen. Be very careful when typing in the password as it is case-sensitive and there are cases where many people got it wrong. Step seven is to configure the wifi connection. During this step, insert your desired WiFi name and password. Moving on to step eight, verify the summary. The router will now show you a summary of what is configured. It is recommended to check through everything that is selected as it is and click the save button. The ninth and second last step is to apply the new configurations and let the wireless router reboot. The final step is to do testing. For this step, connect to the Internet using the new WIFi name that you just configured, followed by checking if the Internet and HyppTV are working properly. If everything works, download the TP-Link Tether app to manage your router from your phone if possible. Read more, here.
