In this day and age, gaining weight is very easy. All you have to do is eat more foods than your body needs, not do anything, and you will see that your pounds are going up each and every day.

One day, a friend of mine called me and she said that she had gained 15lbs. And what’s worse, she couldn’t find the mental fortitude to stop eating.

What my friend just experienced is actually quite common. I, too, at some point gained some weight. I used to be a college football star, but after I tore my ACL, everything changed for me.

I didn’t have the stamina that is required of the sport and I am not able to run like I used to. I got depressed and food seemed to my best friend at that time.

But, what changed me was that at some point, I just said that I wanted to be healthy because I experienced things that are usually related to fat people such as difficulty breathing, having trouble sleeping, problems in the bedroom like if I wanted to delay ejaculation it’d be a bit of an issue, among other things.

Start Now and Improve Gradually

People who have gained weight are oftentimes the people that rarely do not have any strenuous physical activities.

A good way to get back on track is to start going to the gym and upping your physical activity levels. The idea here is to start slow at first. So, day one would include mostly cardio exercises like the treadmill, stair-climbs, etc.

After a couple of days, you can start slowly adding some resistance training in. Do this gradually, but the most important thing is that you have to start now.

Don’t Beat Yourself Up

Weight gain is normal, especially if you’re going through a rough patch. There is nothing to be ashamed of and your weight gain is probably due to the fact that that is how you cope with things.

Don’t think about the mistakes that you’ve done in the past; look for ways to improve yourself by shifting your attention towards the future.

Seek Professional Help
